Rotarians support military projects

Warwick Valley Rotarians have been thanked for their support of two military-related organizations: The Wounded Warriors Project and the Iwo Jima Association of America. John Buckley, left, and Dr. Edwin Wiley present certificates of appreciation to Rotary President Neil Sinclair, center. Wiley has the rank of major and donates his dental skills to the New York Guard. Buckley participated in the recent Military Appreciation Day in Greenwood Lake, hosted by the Arthur Finnegan American Legion Post 1443. Several local Rotarians are military veterans and members of veterans organizations. The 60-member Warwick service club has endorsed an ongoing financial assistance program for the Wounded Warriors Project, which provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life. The Iwo Jima Association is preparing for the 50th anniversary commemoration of the historic 36-day campaign which resulted in 27 Medals of Honor being awarded to 22 Marines and five Navy corpsmen.
