Roe Brothers undergoes facelift

FLORIDA — Roe Brothers Inc., the fourth-generation owned and operated business on Maple Avenue in the Village of Florida, is undergoing a major face lift and updating other parts of its business.

In addition to adding more showroom floor space, Roe Brothers is expanding its Pratt and Lambert paint and home improvement departments in response to the homeowner demand.

'One of Warwick's oldest family businesses'

Roe Brothers, Inc., was founded in 1886 by John King Roe and his brothers George and Luis with locations in Pine Island, Chester and Florida, each operated by one of the founding brothers.

They started out by selling coal and feed as well as lumber.

Over time the Florida-based location has evolved and, under the helm of John’s only child Elizabeth Roe Bieling, became a successful and prominent lumber yard in the 1950’s.

In the 1960’s Arnold Bieling returned to Florida to work side by side with his mother and eventually purchased the business and growing it successfully to what it is today.

Tim and Scott are the sons of Arnold and Christina Bieling and now the fourth generation involved and spearheading the future of one of Warwick’s oldest family owned businesses.

The 130-year old store, located at 65 Maple Ave., is open to the public.
