Resorts World Catskills casino dealer school opens at Stewart Airport

NEWBURGH — Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus participated in a ribbon-cutting on Sept. 7 to celebrate the opening of the new Resorts World Catskills casino dealer school and educational center at Stewart International Airport in Newburgh.
Neuhaus was joined at the event by Orange County Legislator Kevin Hines, Charles Degliomini, the executive vice president of Empire Resorts, Ed Harrison, general manager of Stewart International Airport, and Lynn Cione, the president and CEO of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
“This is a monumental day for not only Orange County but the entire region,” said Neuhaus. “The long-anticipated arrival of Resorts World Catskills is quickly approaching. As part of our ongoing commitment to job creation and retention, the county has made a significant investment in the casino dealer school at Stewart Airport. I am glad that one of these schools is in Orange County and I encourage interested residents to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Classes are freeAll table game classes will be free of charge.
Residents who register for the dealer school will be provided with 20 hours of training per week for a minimum of six weeks in core games such as blackjack, poker, baccarat and roulette.
Additional training will be required for more complex games.
Once training is successfully completed, students can apply, and will then have to interview and audition for table game dealer positions.
The 4,500-square foot casino dealer school is conveniently located and is part of a county bus route that serves the City of Newburgh.
A dream realizedResorts World Catskills expects to hire approximately 600 dealers prior to opening its doors to the public in March 2018. The casino is part of a $1.2 billion four-season destination resort being developed in the Town of Thompson in Sullivan County.
“For years the casino was a dream. That dream is now being realized as we begin to train local residents for jobs that will begin in the coming months,” Degliomini said. “It is great to work with the leadership of Orange County to bring jobs to the region. This will be a great advantage to the community, which was the initial objective of New York State when it granted us a license for a casino.”
Essential informationThe dealer school will have an open house every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Resorts World Catskills will include an 18-story casino, hotel and entertainment complex with approximately 100,000 square feet of casino floor, over 100 table games, 2,150 state-of-the-art slot machines, a poker room and private gaming salons. Guest amenities will include 332 all-suite luxury rooms, which include 12 penthouse suites, eight garden suites and seven two-story villas, two indoor pools, and a spa and fitness center.
