Real stories of struggle and change

Believing you were born the wrong gender can be intensely painful for anyone, but it’s especially tough for young children.
Sponsored by Family Central, this presentation will involve videos that highlight the real stories behind young transgender children, dispelling myths and showing the very real challenges and hope that exists for these families.
The presentation will demonstrate through studies and research that support of these children is paramount for their long-term happiness, health and safety.

Following the videos, presenters Jamie Bruesehoff and Dr. Ann Studer will share their family stories and answer questions.

Jamie Bruesehoff is an award-winning writer, speaker, and advocate. She is a clergy spouse and mom to three spirited children, including a 12-year-old transgender daughter.
Bruesehoff advocates for LGBTQ youth and adults creating opportunities for learning and conversation in schools, churches, workplaces and beyond. She works on a local, state and federal level to advocate for policy changes that protect and support LGBTQ people of all ages.
Her work has been featured by media outlets and organizations around the world, including but not limited to Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, LGBTQ Nation, the Human Rights Campaign, Good Day Philadelphia and Good Morning Britain.

Dr. Ann Studer is a local chiropractor who has had a family practice in Warwick for more than 20 years. She is the mother of an 8-year-old transgender boy.
She helped her son to transition at the age of four from living life as a girl to becoming the happy and healthy boy that he is.
As a result, Studer is now offering body/mind Life Coaching for LGBTQ teens and their families in her practice. This program is designed to relieve the physical symptoms that are the result of emotional stress in this specific population of teens and parents.
In addition, she is currently starting up a local playgroup for young transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming children ages 12 and under.
