WARWICK — Better Homes & Gardens | Rand Realty on Railroad Avenue hosted an antiques appraisal event on Saturday, Sept. 16, and raised more than $600 to support the Seward/Mapes Homestead Restoration.
Sugar Loaf estate appraiser and auctioneer William J. Jenack was on hand to offer his expert appraisal on individual antiques and collectables for a fee of $5 per item.
The Seward/Mapes Homestead, 23 North Main St. in the Village of Florida, was the site of the homes of William Henry Seward, secretary of state in the Lincoln Administration, and William E. Mapes, a captain during the Civil War in the 124th New York State Volunteers, a regiment that came to be called "The Orange Blossoms."
