Quality, but not at retail prices
WARWICK — Town of Warwick Deputy Supervisor James Gerstner and members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined owner Amy Gargiulo and her family for the official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of her new business on Monday, Feb. 10.
Too Sweet Kids Consignment Boutique, located at 25 Elm St. in the Mitchel Corners shopping plaza, operates as a consignment store that caters specifically to children sizes newborn up to and including sizes 10/12.
"We are committed to providing Warwick and its surrounding communities with premium quality children's items, from clothing and gear to toys, books, décor and more," said Gargiulo. "As a mother of two and consignor myself for more than six years, I realize how valuable it is to be able to consign my children's things and at the same time be able to purchase brand new or gently used clothing and gear. Our commitment at the Boutique is to provide families with only premium quality items at a fraction of the retail cost."
New look, new offerings
Since Gargiulo, a local resident, officially took over in late fall of 2013, the store has undergone a thorough transformation with a complete turnover of inventory and refreshed interior displays.
In addition, Gargiulo has expanded the store's offerings.
Too Sweet Kids Consignment Boutique is now the exclusive carrier of Tiny Finery, a locally handmade line of children's clothing and accessories, and Leonora Designs, a locally handcrafted line of hair accessories for women and children made of vintage fabrics and lace.
Gargiulo stated that she is committed to showcasing and promoting local artisans and working in partnership with local small businesses at every opportunity.
With more than 300 community residents who are active consignors, Too Sweet Kids is open to expanding its active list of consignors. The store, however, accepts only premium quality new or gently used children's gear, toys and accessories that are in excellent condition.
Management determines the selling prices of items and consignors receive 40 per cent of the sale price plus an automatic 10 per cent discount on any items purchased with store credit.
Upcoming event
Too Sweet Kids also holds special events, most of which showcase local talent/artisanship, and monthly sale promotions.
On Sunday, Feb. 23, for example, Too Sweet Kids will host a reservation only spring-themed portrait event with local photographer, Kimberly Standish, of Kimberly Standish Photography. Families can book a 20-minute professional photo session for up to three children, choose at least three digital images and receive full printing rights.
Appointment spaces are limited and registration must be made in person at the boutique.
