Public hearings set on county comprehensive plan
GOSHEN — The Orange County Legislature will hold two public hearings on the Orange County Comprehensive Plan update and its new transportation chapter according to the following schedule:
3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the OCCC-Newburgh Campus, One Washington Center Newburgh. Snowdate is March 13.
5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, in the Legislative Chamber, Orange County Government Center, 255 Main St., Goshen. (The Goshen hearing was originally scheduled for Feb. 20 but cancelled due to snow.)
Comprehensive plans are guides to future community development. The draft plan, which is 20 pages, states that it "presents an overview of the previous plans we have adopted; introduces the emerging needs of the County; discusses our public outreach efforts for this update; and sets forth the mission, vision, and themes of the Plan. The second part gives an overview of the current state of the County — demographics, development trends, and brief discussions of our goals for housing and future development using the Priority Growth Area strategy."
