Pet blessing goes to the dogs

SUGAR LOAF — Literally.
More than 30 dogs - plus a gerbil, rabbit and kitten - received a personal blessing on a bright, sunny day last Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church’s annual blessing of the animals.
Following a brief service that included singing and prayers, Pastor Lynne Severance delivered blessings to all animals. Also blessed were the animals available for adoption brought to the service by members of the Warwick Valley Humane Society.
Guests also had the opportunity to visit Heifer International’s Living Gift Market where they could “purchase” sponsored animals to help feed hungry families around the world.
“It was a lovely and moving ceremony,” a church representative said in the press release describing the event, “and everyone was amazed at how well the animals behaved.”
