Pamela Loperena wins library’s teen short story contest

WARWICK — Pamela Loperena’s mermaid-themed short story, “Cerulean Whispers,” won the Albert Wisner Public Library’s teen short story contest.
Teens wrote stories using the summer reading program theme, “Beneath the Surface” as a writing prompt. Judging this year’s contest was
Sharon Linnea, author and founder of local press, Arundel Publishing, was the judge.
“Pamela’s story, ‘Cerulean Whispers,’ showed creativity and heart,” Linnea said in her assessment of the work. “It also showed that she takes her craft seriously and enjoys increasing her vocabulary. Well done!”
Pamela is entering her sophomore year at Warwick Valley High School.
