Orange Regional Medical Center has been recently designated as a Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) hospital, recognizing the Hospital’s commitment to providing exemplary care to older patients. NICHE is the largest national geriatric care program for hospitals.

The NICHE program supports the implementation of a variety of best practices, including prevention and management of pain, pressure ulcers, delirium, urinary incontinence and fall prevention. Orange Regional creates physical and social environments that address these specific needs of older patients.

“Geriatric patients have different needs when they are hospitalized,” says Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, Joanne Ritter-Teitel. “Thanks to Orange Regional’s NICHE designation, our nursing staff has access to NICHE resources that offer educational programs and training to help improve the outcomes for our older patients and provide them with an exceptional patient care experience.”
