Orange County Land Trust benefit reception set for June 6
SUGAR LOAF — The Orange County Land Trust will host its largest annual fund raiser event on Friday, June 6, at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club in Central Valley.
The theme for this year’s reception is :Conserving the Lands We All Love ... In our Own Backyard."
The event will celebrate the acquisition and launch of the Jack and Louise Birnberg Nature Preserve, a 187-acre nature preserve located alongside the Heritage Trail in Chester and Blooming Grove.
This highly accessible natural area was a $1.3 million gift to the land trust by the Birnberg Family of Bergen and Essex counties in New Jersey.
The acreage shelters a unique landscape that will allow for recreation and nature observation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.
Douglas Land of Cornwall, a member of the trust's Board of Directors, and Jenna Berman Field of Warwick, a longtime supporter of the trust, chair the charity event.
This cocktail-style dining will feature silent and live auctions, a preview of the Birnberg Preserve as well as a tribute to the Birnberg Family.

Since 1993, Orange County Land Trust has worked to preserve Orange County’s important natural resources, scenic landscapes and working farmland, resulting in the protection of nearly 5,000 acres of land, including twelve working farms. The trust owns and stewards eleven nature preserves, seven which are open to the public every day at no charge for outdoor recreation and nature study.
Two preserves are leased to farmers and are in active agricultural production, and one preserve is inaccessible, protected wildlife habitat.
The 187-acre Jack and Louise Birnberg Preserve will open this summer.
