— On Thursday, Nov. 1, members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined Dr. Rick Rutkowski and his staff to celebrate the 10 anniversary of Optimum Performance Physical Therapy.

Although local officials like Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton had planned to attend, their schedule of official duties in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy took precedence.

“We started a decade ago with the goal of providing the highest quality of care to the local community,” said Rutkowski. “We started in Florida, New York at the Sports Fitness and Fun Center and then years later had the good fortune of relocating to the Warwick Wellness Center at the crossroads of County Route 1 and West St.. During the early years we earned an excellent reputation with our local doctors, nurses and coaches. This is what we are most proud of.”

Rutkowski said that Optimum Performance offers on one hands on care for back and neck pain and sports injuries. And it has also incorporated pulmonary programs and infant muscular torticollis interventions.

“Our interventions help people of all ages and abilities,” he said. “We offer the most advanced, state-of-the-art equipment to speed recovery and enhance function. We offer three different advanced Biodex machines that are capable of detecting minute changes in balance, coordination and gait. No other facility in the county offers these.”

Optimum Performance Physical Therapy has two doctors of physical therapy and one athletic trainer on site providing skilled care. All of the staff attends ongoing continuing education and Rutkowsk frequently attends international conferences to better utilize the research available.

“It is our philosophy,” he said, “that no one should have to live with pain and that immediate relief and long lasting results can be experienced through highly skilled physical therapy.”
