Open house and open-call auditions scheduled for 'The Nutcracker' at Warwick Center for Performing Arts

The Warwick Center for the Performing Arts, 63 Wheeler Ave., will host an open house on Friday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon.

And on Saturday, Sept. 7, there will be an open-call audition immediately following the studio's open house for the center's traditional full-length production of "The Nutcracker."

Call backs for lead roles will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m.

Dancers ages 12 and over should bring pointe shoes if applicable.

Performances of this classic winter fairy tale will take place at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. ,7 and Sunday, Dec. 8, under the direction of Melissa Padham-Maass, and will feature dancers from the center's resident professional company, the Warwick Dance Collective.

Rehearsals will be held on select Saturdays and Sundays through the fall.

Directed by owner/dancer Melissa Padham-Maass, the Warwick Center for the Performing Arts provides instruction in a variety of disciplines including ballet, pointe, contemporary, tap, jazz, hip hop, Irish dance, improvisation, yoga, Pilates, barre fitness and cardio dance.

Classes are offered for all ages, from toddler through adult, with performing opportunities throughout the year.

Last season's productions included "Warwick's Got Talent," "The Nutcracker," "Cinderella: The Ballet" and "A Storybook Soirée."

Prospective students and parents are invited to visit the studio, Sept. 6 - 7, to meet the faculty, tour the facility and learn more about the wide range of programs available for all ages, including dance and fitness classes and also the preschool program.

12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Ages 5 to 6

1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Ages 7 to 8

2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Ages 9 to 11

4 to 5:30 p.m. Ages 12 and over
