Noble Pies opens Warwick café

— On Dec. 7, Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton, Mayor Michael Newhard and members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors joined co-owner Leslie Noble and her staff for the official grand opening of Noble Pies Café.

The café, located at 38 Main St. in the Village of Warwick, is a second location for Noble Pies, which first opened in Warwick’s Meadowcrest Shopping Plaza, 121 Route 94 South, in 2010.

Noble Pies specializes in handmade baked goods from scratch using local fruits and vegetables and no preservatives.

It all began when Leslie Noble and her husband, Tom Herman, turned their simple pie stand on the side of the road into a retail bakery offering more than 40 kinds of pie and many other types of baked goods.

Their pies, cookies, muffins, coffee cakes, scones and strudels are all available at the new cafe.

Noble Pies Cafe offers a comfortable atmosphere to sit down and enjoy a slice of pie and gourmet coffee. And they offer espressos and lattes.

Coffee and tea, too

The owners purchase their coffee from Java Love Coffee Roasters in Bethel.

For tea lovers, Noble Pies Café features loose teas from Zen Tara Teas in Bethesda, Md., served either by the cup or by the pot.

Daily specials are listed on Facebook, and special offers are made daily on Twitter, weekly on Foursquare.

Still a family business, the cafe is managed by Leslie Noble’s son Zachary, who makes the daily run each morning to the bakery at Meadowcrest Shopping Plaza to get the freshly made items he will be serving.

“Everything served at our new café comes from the bakery,” said Noble. “But don’t let the term bakery mislead you. The café also offers lunch and dinner savory pies such as chicken pot pie, shepherd’s pie, beef stew pie and kitchen sink quiche along with half a dozen more savory pies. And our delicious scones offer a quick lunch for those needing lighter fare.”

Noble Pies Café is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
