Night and day

This portrait of a snow owl was taken by Jeff Crawn in Pine Island. According information from the National Geographic Institute, the ghostlike snowy owl has unmistakable white plumage that echoes its Arctic origins. And unlike most owls, which are nocturnal, snowy owls are diurnal — they hunt and are active both day and night.
