    Play ballWARWICK — The Warwick Little League season kicks off Saturday, April 6, with the annual parade in the Village of Warwick.
    The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Warwick Village Hall as the teams march through the village to Memorial Park.
    Line-up starts at 9:15 on Church Street.
    After the parade, there will be the ceremonial “first pitch” followed by a full slate of games planned throughout the day.
    The Amity Gallery will present two events to welcome springWARWICK — Opening on Saturday, April 6, reception from 5 to 7 p.m., will be an exhibit featuring the work of two Montgomery artists, Joseph and Elizabeth Sundwall entitled "An Artful Union."
    The show is in tribute both to their work and to their marriage of 27 years. The show will run every weekend in April from noon to 4 p.m. with the artists on site painting, drawing, demonstrating and greeting the visitors.
    "It's a gift to live a life with someone who is equally passionate about art and devoted to making it," the couple said in the press release announcing the exhibit.
    Meanwhile, the gallery is presenting an evening of poetry readings on Saturday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in honor of National Poetry Month.
    The "Celebrating Poetry" reading will feature six local poets: Harvey Greenwald, Howard Horowitz, Elaine Knight, Mary Makofske, Donna Spector and Lynn Youland.
    Part one will be read, one after the other, by all the Poets with their version of specific topics. Part two will be individual readings, poets choice.
    Both shows are admission free and will serve refreshments

    Dispose household hazardous waste, medications safely on April 13MONTGOMERY — Orange County is accepting household hazardous waste from residents on Saturday, April 13, at Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Montgomery from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    There is no charge for Orange County residents with proof of residency.
    In addition, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will be accepting prescription and over-the-counter drugs for proper disposal.
    Items that will be accepted at the hazardous waste collection site are: Adhesives, aerosol cans, automotive products, fire extinguishers, flammable liquids including oil, gas, kerosene and/or mixtures, corrosives/cleaners, creosote, driveway sealer, pool chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, inks, mercury, oil-based paints only, pesticides/herbicides, propane cylinders (camp size), roofing tar, rubber cement, solvents/thinners, varnishes/shellac/stains, wood preservatives and car batteries.
    Items that will not be accepted are: Refrigerators, tires, air conditioners, electronics, latex (water based) paint, BBQ size propane tanks, appliances and alkaline batteries (can be thrown in the household trash).

    • Saturday, June 8, at Port Jervis High School Lower Parking Lot, 10 Route 209, Port Jervis
    • Saturday, Sept. 21, at Orange County Fire Training Center, 9 Training Center Lane, New Hampton
    • Saturday, Oct. 26, at Delano Hitch Recreation Center, 401 Washington Street, Newburgh

    Pancake breakfast to benefit Pulaski Fire DepartmentPINE ISLAND — The Pulaski Fire Department in Pine Island is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast on Sunday, April 14, from 7 a.m. to noon at the Pine Island Firehouse.
    This is much more than a pancake breakfast. The menu includes eggs and omelets, Quaker Creek sausage and ham, toast, home fries, coffee, tea, juice and, of course pancakes.
    After you indulge in breakfast, The Pulaski Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting its annual bake sale.
    The cost for breakfast is $10 for adults, seniors are $9, children 5 and older are $5, and under 5 are free.
    The Pine Island Firehouse is located at 684 County Route 1 in Pine island.
