State to audit the Warwick Valley School District

WARWICK — The New York State Office of the Comptroller has notified the Warwick Valley School District that it has been selected for a routine audit.

Auditors from the State Comptroller’s Division of Local Government Services and Economic Development conduct performance audits in accordance with Government Auditing Standards in all New York State school districts, BOCES and charter schools.

The audits review the internal controls, financial practices and operations of school districts to help ensure that there is adequate protection against fraud, theft or professional misconduct. According to the State Comptroller’s Office, “These audits help strengthen school district accountability for the use of public resources and the efficient delivery of educational services, and can be used as a tool in the development of school district internal controls.”

“We welcome the opportunity to strengthen our financial management systems,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Raymond Bryant said in the district’s press release announcing the audit.
