WARWICK — Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard and Trustees George McManus and William Lindberg face no opposition as they seek re-election to their respective offices on Tuesday, March 20.
• Newhard, a local businessman who owns Newhard’s, The Home Source on Main Street, has been mayor of the Queen Village since 2001. He was appointed by then-Mayor Frank Lacalamita to the village board of trustees in 1997 after the death of his father. Newhard later won the seat in his own right before winning the mayor’s seat.
Even with the incumbents having no opposition, Newhard urges village voters to be engaged.
“I have been honored to serve as mayor for the Village of Warwick for 17 years,” said Newhard. “Although this election is unopposed, it does not mean it is a moment we do not exercise our right to vote. Your vote is a meaningful part of what it is to be engaged in your community and your vote is an affirmation of the success of our Queen Village and to its future.”
McManus and Lindberg are also veterans on the board, serving 15 years and eight years respectively.
• McManus is a 45-year resident of the village. His family includes wife Kathleen Adler, seven children and 18 grandchildren between them.
Retired, McManus worked for 29 years as manager of Gordon Ford, an automotive dealership. He is an active member of the Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition. He is a former member of the Warwick Board of Education, serving 15 years on that board, five as president.
• Lindberg retired after a 35-year career as district manager with Aramark Corp., an international services organization. He and his wife, Judy, have lived in the village for 27 years and have two grown daughters, both graduates of the Warwick School District.
Lindberg is a member and officer with the Warwick Fire Department, president of the Warwick United Methodist Church Board of Trustees, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry.
All of the Village of Warwick offices have four-year terms.
