GREENWOOD LAKE — On Sunday, March 10, the family and friends of Dr. Linda Cozzi gathered at the refurbished Village of Greenwood Lake Park and Ride on Jersey Avenue to dedicate a memorial sign in her memory.

Linda Cozzi was clinical psychologist who lived and practiced in Greenwood Lake and New York City. She passed away on April 9, 2012.

“She was a fervent advocate of public transportation,” said her sister, Dr. Emilie Cozzi. “She always enjoyed the convenience of using the New Jersey Transit bus line to commute between her Greenwood Lake home and her Manhattan office. For this reason, it seemed fitting that the new sign, placed above the bus shelter, be donated in her memory.”

The sign features a painted historic lake scene by artist and sign designer Susan Bemel, reflecting Linda Cozzi’s love for Greenwood Lake.

Among those who came to the dedication was Sister Olivia Reginella, OSAC, a Pallottine nun currently living in Monroe. She had been Dr. Linda Cozzi’s second grade teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel elementary school in the Bronx and recalled fond memories of her pleasant personality as a child.

In addition to donating the sign, Emilie Cozzi, Ph.D., is known for many contributions to Greenwood Lake including having her former students at the New York City College of Technology help design Morahan Park. She is past president of the New York City College of Technology, City University of New York.
