— Members of the National Honor Society chapter at George F. Baker High School have been demonstrating their commitment to community and community service in a number of ways:

Movie night
On Dec. 6, the National Honor Society hosted George Grant Mason School’s annual movie night.

More than 40 kids from the community attended the event. It was a night of yummy snacks, time with friends, and arts and crafts. The kids watched Pixar’s production of "Monster’s University" and made holiday cards for the seniors at both Tuxedo Senior Center and Greenwood Lake Senior Center.

The Tuxedo National Honor Society was happy to provide a safe, fun environment in which our community’s children could bond.

Thirty-seven honor society members volunteered their time.

Food drive
From Oct. 21 through Nov. 22, the Baker High School chapter of the National Honor Society held a food drive to raise awareness about hunger in the community.

The chapter collected and then donated 1,000 food items to the Greenwood Lake Food Pantry and the Sloatsburg Food Pantry.

"We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation for those who participated in the drive and those who gave so generously," the chapter members wrote in a press release detailing their efforts. "In 2013, food pantries all across the nation are seeing record demand for feeding assistance and it is an honor to have been part of a movement to meet that demand locally."
