WARWICK — Mount Peter Ski Area's fifth annual Winter Carnival on Feb. 8 was another huge success.

A record crowd turned out to enjoy the events, including food and refreshments while participating in carnival games, raffles, contests and musical entertainment.

And, as a bonus helped by Mother Nature along with an army of snow guns, the skiing and snow-boarding conditions were ideal and all trails were open and all lifts were in operation.

The carnival activities began at noon with music by DJ Jay Bird and contests including a water cup "musical chairs" style elimination passing, Ping a Ling, and a strong arm challenge for kids just to name a few.

The day's snow events included downhill races, a rail jam, an obstacle course for kids and shortly after dark, a spectacular torch light parade.

The event raised $4,000 and still counting for Team Mount Peter, which will participate in the 2014 Avon Breast Cancer Walk.

In New York, that event has been scheduled for October 18-19.

Until the latest winter carnival Team Mount Peter had donated over $39,000 to the Breast Cancer Walk.

The money is used to provide breast cancer screening for both men and women and to help pay for treatment if necessary. Funds are also used for cancer research.

The Avon Foundation for Women is not affiliated in any way with Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

"A Big thank you to all who came out and supported Team Mount Peter - helping raise money for Breast cancer research," said team captain Amy Richardson.
