Mima's of Warwick closes Main Street showroom

WARWICK — Mima Dinetz has owned and operated Mima's of Warwick, billed as "The Natural Choice for Jewelry and Gifts from Around the World," for 34 years.
And she has displayed her wars on Main Street in the Village of Warwick since first opening in the Clocktower Building in 1988 and then at 25 Main St. since 1992.
Last week, Dinetz closed that landmark location forever, but not her business.
Mima's of Warwick will continue to serve its clients with jewelry and gifts from around the world via its web site at www.mimasofwarwick.com
Nevertheless, it was sad to see the store close.
Mima Dinetz was an original member of the Merchant Guild, a committee of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce. And her business, a destination shop for many of the tourists and day trippers who visit Warwick, was also a strong supporter of community events and charitable organizations like Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center and Backpack Snack Attack.
On Thursday, July 26, Mayor Michael Newhard, who is also a Main Street business owner, and members of the Merchant Guild, including the current President Tom Roberts, paid a surprise visit to Mima and Lou Dinetz and store manager Donna McCabe, who were in the process of finalizing the closing of the store.
"You brought life to the street," the mayor said.
Merchant Guild Events Chair Corrine Iurato also presented Mima Dinetz with a bouquet.
"You helped to grow our village by hosting so many talented artists over the years," said past Merchant Guild President Mary Beth Schlichting, who read a statement from the Guild that ended, "You will never be forgotten on Main Street, only missed."
