Michael Kamrowski awarded the first Black Dirt Feast scholarship

FLORIDA During the annual Senior Recognition Night held at S. S. Seward High School in Florida, Black Dirt Feast Scholarship Fund committee members Bob and Sally Scheuermann announced Michael Kamrowski as the first award recipient of the $1,000 scholarship, sponsored by the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce.
The scholarship is awarded to students planning on pursuing a college curriculum in either agriculture or culinary arts/hospitality, and who meet the qualifications of the application.
In his essay, Kamrowski wrote: To me success is measured not during but in the end of the individuals time where he will truly be defined, where all of his life long progress is remembered and those home come after him will modestly respect and even seek to recreate those accomplishments with no desire to receive praise or glory.
The Black Dirt Feast was first conceived of as a way to showcase some of the top chefs in the region and the farmers who produce the fruits and vegetables they use. The events objective is to bring the entire community together to celebrate the beauty and bounty of the Black Dirt Region.
The mission of the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce (pineislandny.com) is to promote prosperity in the business community, support and enhance the uniqueness of the region, and to enrich the lives of all residents through community spirit and cooperation.
