Man's best friend supports the American Cancer Society
ROCKLAND COUNTY — They are there for every birthday, every laugh, and every tear. They are silent, constant companions who provide unconditional love and support in the dark hours of a cancer diagnosis. Dogs are the unnoticed caregivers who give a special kind of support for cancer patients.
The American Cancer Society’s Bark For Life of the Lower Hudson Valley is a walk for dogs and their owners to fight back against cancer. It will be held at Bear Mountain State Park on Sunday, April 28. Bark For Life is a way to celebrate our favorite canines, while raising funds for cancer research and patient services. It is a noncompetitive walk around Hessian Lake at Bear Mountain. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the Opening Ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. Dogs and their owners can visit with vendors, participate in various dog contests and other activities while enjoying a morning outdoors with the entire family. Contests include best dog costume, best dog trick, dog/owner look-a-like, and dog musical sit.
