Love Life Tattoo and Art Studio celebrates grand opening

Local officials joined partners Matt Leahy and Kimberly Simpson for the official grand opening of Love Life Tattoo and Art Studio on Friday, June 6. A concert in the studio later that evening also marked the event.

The spacious facility at 10 South Street in the Village of Warwick features a display of works of art that rotate every three months along with unique pieces of jewelry, skateboards, mix your own scented body products and organic soy candles.

In the rear of the shop, Leahy, a veteran tattoo artist, performs custom tattooing.

He began his career under the apprenticeship of Johnny Eagle in West Milford, N.J., attended numerous tattoo conventions and perfected his craft for many years before opening Love Life Tattoo with Simpson, his business partner. In addition to being co-owner, Leahy serves as head tattoo artist.

This summer, the studio will be hosting events for the Warwick Summer Arts Festival and the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival.

Love Life Tattoo also plans to establish a not-for-profit organization in memory of Leahy's brother Doug, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at age 51.

"We are setting up a donation-only community art outreach program in the Warwick area and joining forces with other community outreach programs," said Simpson.

Every first Saturday of the month, for example, Love Life Tattoo will hold a survivor outreach meeting in conjunction with the Tista 4 Life Foundation.

"Love Life Tattoo is more than a tattoo shop," said Leahy. "We are always looking for new artists to display their creations in our shop. Stop in and see Kim for more details. We also carry natural body care products, local art and jewelry, organic soy candles and awesome skate decks."

Business hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
