Literacy Orange needs tutors

MIDDLETOWN — Literacy Orange has scheduled two training sessions for volunteer tutors in Orange County. One session will be held at King of Kings Lutheran Church in New Windsor starting March 13, 2013. A second session is set for the Mulberry House Senior Center in Middletown and will begin April 8, 2013. Each session totals 18 hours of training.
When training is complete, each tutor will be assigned an adult or small group. Tutoring usually takes place in libraries or churches in the home community.
Literacy Orange has nearly 100 tutors working throughout Orange County, but many more are needed to meet the needs of those on the waiting list. Once a tutor is assigned to an adult learner, a commitment of one hour per week for approximately a year is requested.
