Light Up the Night for the Arts raises $1,436 for the Warwick Valley School District

WARWICK — The Warwick Arts & Music Booster Organization (WAMBO) and the Warwick Foundation for Excellence in Learning (WFEL) co-hosted the second annual Light Up The Night for The Arts at the Wright Family Farm on Nov. 1, with nearly donated 180 Jack-o'-lanterns.

The community event raised $1,436 for the arts in the Warwick Valley School District. Scores of people came out to see the display of the carved and lit pumpkins, all donated by the community including local businesses.

“We want to thank the Wright Family for once again hosting us and bringing our community together. Without their support this event would not be possible," said event co-organizer and WAMBO and WFEL board member Keely Blaickner. “We want to thank the high school volunteers who helped us build the exhibit and all the local businesses that carved a pumpkin and donated it to exhibit."

Business contributionsAmong those businesses were: B & R Liquors, Cafe a la Mode, Cappelli Hair Salon, Etched in Time, Fetch, Fizzy Lifting, Frazzleberries, Karate Quest Dojo, Love Life Tattoo, Miller Ski & Sports, Newhards, NY Hot Dog & Falafel, Pecks Wine & Spirits, Pin Street Bowling, Seagull Photographic Art, Subway, The Candy Apple Shoppe, The Craft Beer Store, The Warwick School of Music, Vincent's, Warwick Olive Oil, WRG, Yesterdays, Halligan's and G's Restaurant.

Pumpkin-carving contestThe winners of the pumpkin-carving contests were:

• Business owner: Adam Powers of Fetch.

• Adult category: Karina Pedone (first), Heather Arcelli (second) and Meghan Delaney (third).

• Student category: Dan McQuade (first), Grace Hoey (second) and Madeline Short (third ).
