Join the Junior Police Academy this summer

The Warwick Police Department and the Warwick Valley School District are once again collaborating this summer to host the WPD’s Junior Police Academy.

Led by the department’s School Resource Officers, students will learn about different aspects of police work including: K-9 demonstrations, self-defense, CPR, fire safety, fingerprinting, visits to Orange County 911 and Crime Analysis Centers, plus interesting guest lecturers and fun field trips.

Students ages 10 to 15 residing in the Warwick, Greenwood Lake and Florida school districts are invited to participate.

Two sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Warwick Valley High School, located at 89 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.

Session I will take place from July 14 through July 25; Session II is set for Aug. 4 through Aug. 15.

Students must be available to attend all 10 days of the program.

All children must complete a two-question essay. There is a limited capacity with a preference to first-time attendees. The cost for the program is $250 and includes two WJPA shirts, hat and water bottle.
