John Figliacconi announces his candidacy for the Orange County Legislature

FLORIDA — John M. Figliacconi, a lifelong Village of Florida resident and small business owner in the Village of Warwick, has announced his candidacy for Orange County Legislator District 3 which encompasses most of the Town of Warwick and the Village of Florida and a portion of Minisink.
Figliacconi’s family roots date back locally to the Revolutionary War. His grandfather was born in Pine Island and was raised on the family farm in Minisink known as the Slaughter farm.
Figliacconi is a member of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus council 4952 where he sits as a 4th degree Knight serving as an officer on the executive board of 250 brother Knight’s. He has served as a volunteer with the Florida ecumenical food pantry and is a member of St. Stephen’s Parish in Warwick.
The candidate has been a member of the Town of Warwick for 17 years (he joined when he was 19). He will be seeking the Republican, Independence and Conservative party lines.
“I have never ran for office before,” Figliacconi said. “I feel compelled to run (because) the party needs a new face with fresh ideas, a person who is not a politician, somebody who relates to and understands the needs and wants of the public. I am that person.”
He is the owner of Main street Barbers of Warwick, located at 12 Main St. which opened June 2012 and has since expanded to include “ Classy Cuts and Curls of Warwick” salon for the entire family.
The candidate said that starting in June, he plans on going door to door all summer on a grass roots-style campaign.
