GREENWOOD LAKE — Seven years ago, paddling across Greenwood Lake from Breezy Point, Micki (Michelle) Lees had one boat operator after another slowing down to ask what was she was standing on.
That started a new venture that would be called Jersey Paddle Boards founded in 2014 by Micki, Al , Amber and Tyler Lees.
On Thursday, July 28, Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton, Greenwood Lake Mayor Jesse Dwyer and members of the Warwick and Greenwood Lake Chambers of Commerce joined Al and Micki Lees, their friends and staff to celebrate their third year success and new membership in the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The family-owned, full service paddle board and kayak rental firm, serving New York and New Jersey clients ranging from children to adults and beginners to elite athletes, is located at the Willow Point Marina, 622 Jersey Ave.
Coming from the Village of Greenwood Lake, the entrance to the shop and launching area is just before the Breezy Point Restaurant and at the bottom of the hill.
"We offer paddleboards, race boards, kayaks and tandem kayaks," said Micki Lees, "You can launch safely from our own beautiful sand beach or transport to your own location. Our equipment ensures that first timers will get it and see it's easier than it looks.
We take great pride in what we do and have ensured that our customers receive only the best service."
Lees added that her staff is accredited and certified with National certifications including WPA (World Paddle Association), ACA and Paddle Fit.
In addition to rentals, Jersey Paddle Boards also offers lessons and hosts races, parties and events, including ladies night, co-ed paddles, full moon paddles and more.
