Interactive program promotes healther children, families

MIDDLETOWN — “It can be challenging to encourage healthy eating and activity habits in our children – but we’re confident this program could make all the difference in your family,” said Annemarie Stephens, nutrition program educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County. She was referring to new eight-week program for parents and caregivers of children ages 3 to 11 years: Healthy Children, Healthy Families, that begins Sept. 25.
“What makes this program so different is that it provides fun-filled activities to bring home and share with the whole family,” said Stephens, “and when everyone’s involved, there’s a better chance of positive changes becoming permanent.
The weekly classes offer a supportive environment, hands-on activities, recipes and information to help make healthy habits.
The program is free.
Healthy Children – Healthy Families begins Sept. 25 and runs for eight consecutive Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 18 Seward Ave., Middletown. Space is limited; call Stephens at 845-344-1234 for more information about the program.
