'If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went'

Schervier Pavilion residents recently enjoyed an actual testing of friendly dogs and their owners for certification as therapy dogs that work in nursing homes, hospitals, schools and many other facilities.
As residents looked on, qualified evaluators and their assistants from The Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc. put the dogs through the paces to make sure they always give a wide birth to crutches, walkers and plates of food.
And they were tested on how they showed obedience towards their handlers commands and demonstrated no aggression toward other dogs and calmness with people.
During the event many of the residents also had an opportunity to enjoy a visit with a friendly therapy dog.
“Visiting therapy dogs help contribute to the health and well being of our residents” said Schervier Pavilion Director of Recreation Kari Call. “We’re happy they were able to witness how these well trained dogs are certified.”
As director of recreation, her job is to provide recreation resources and opportunities for both the long and short-term residents of the skilled nursing home in order to maintain and improve their health and well being.
