Hudson Valley Bounty has re-launched its website, now the region’s most comprehensive local farm and food portal. With a fresh look and functionality, the new Hudson Valley Bounty website, hudsonvalleybounty.com, showcases a larger number of food enterprises, more refined search capabilities, new food categories, and more in-depth details of its participants.
Over 475 farms and food enterprises throughout the Hudson Valley are featured, with descriptions, product lists, photos, maps and wholesale and contact information included for each.
Hudson Valley Bounty’s site is now searchable by county, with interactive maps pin-pointing each farm or food business included throughout Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Columbia, Rensselaer and Washington counties. Searches may also be conducted by business categories, with participants grouped according to products such as farms, wineries/vineyards, distilleries, breweries, cideries, specialty producers, farmers markets, food and beverage trails, restaurants, caterers, retail and grocery stores, or distributors/wholesalers. Additional filters may be applied to each category to further refine a search. For instance, the 222 farms included may be sorted by county, product type (i.e. dairy, flowers, meat, vegetables, etc.), then by production method (i.e. certified organic, grass-fed, biodynamic, etc.) and by their distribution markets as well.
“Hudson Valley Bounty aims to support our region’s diverse agricultural community by educating buyers and consumers and encouraging local product sourcing," said Iyla Shornstein, program coordinator of Hudson Valley Bounty. "This new platform addresses the need for a comprehensive regional resource for local food and farm information and streamlines the search for local purveyors. It is our hope that the increased functionality will expand marketing opportunities for our region’s producers and more easily connect consumers to local foods,”
Participation in Hudson Valley Bounty is free, and farms and food businesses may submit their information at hudsonvalleybounty.com.
Hudson Valley Bounty is a program of Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corporation (HVADC) and was designed to promote and support networking and connections between local agricultural producers and culinary businesses, while educating the community about the preservation of local farms and the use of local and regional sustainable food products. Hudson Valley Bounty’s website first debuted in 2010. The new Hudson Valley Bounty website was designed and developed by Michael Sullivan.
“We are longtime supporters of a CSA and enjoy farm share programs, farmers markets and restaurants that are serious about locally sourced food, so building this directory to help educate and promote the many great farms and related businesses across various counties was a great experience," Sullivan said. "I hope the community benefits from the new website.”
The new Hudson Valley Bounty website also features tips about what food products are in season throughout the region, news of and for Hudson Valley Bounty food producers, a local food glossary, tourism resources, and guides to farm and food certification programs.
