Homecoming Parade returns to Main Street

WARWICK — It's hometown USA again.

Judging by the huge turnout of onlookers along Main Street eagerly awaiting the traditional Homecoming Day Parade on Saturday, Oct. 25, it was a good day for Warwick.

The weather was picture perfect for the Warwick Valley High School's 43rd annual Homecoming Day and everyone was happy that once again they could view a great parade with creative floats along Main Street in the Village of Warwick.

Last year, an administrative decision to not have Homecoming include a parade on Main Street, was both a surprise and a disappointment for many local residents.

Everyone agreed this year that once again the students produced a great parade with their creative floats, each with a "Steven Spielberg" movies theme depicting some of his most well known films such as Jurassic Park and Jaws.

Local and school officials served as judges and voted the Senior Class, as first place winner with its Jurassic Park float.

A creative Sophomore Float featuring Warwick's Clocktower Building was advanced with the distribution of "Back to the Future" 1955 newspaper front page fliers with a headline proclaiming that the clock stopped at 10:04 when the building was struck by lightning.

In the comic science fiction film a teenager is sent back in time to 1955.

The float winners in order were senior, sophomore, junior and freshmen classes.

That same afternoon, Valley Central enjoyed a victory over the Warwick Wildcats, 14-7.

Homecoming faculty advisors this year were Danielle Bugach and Jeffrey Jacobson.
