Home heating grants available

MONTGOMERY — Home heating help grants for Orange County residents who need help to pay their home heating expenses but don’t qualify for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) will be available beginning Monday, Nov. 19.

Residents can apply online for a one-time Orange County Fuel Fund grant for help to pay all types of home heating including kerosene, propane, oil, pellets, wood and electric heat.

Grant amounts depend on the type of heating fuel used by residents and range from $625 to $1,000.

Beginning Nov. 19 grants will be paid, upon approval, directly to the resident’s heating provider.

To review income guidelines, go to www.ocfuelfund.org. All applications require documentation for all members of the household.

To see if you qualify for the Fuel Fund, call United Way at 845-457-4774 ext. 3112 starting Nov. 19. Once qualification is confirmed, you will be asked to submit your application along with the required documentation.

Residents can also download the application form from the Fuel Fund web site, print it out and mail it to United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, 30 Scott’s Corners Drive, Suite 102, Montgomery, NY 12549, Attention: Orange County Fuel Fund.
