WARWICK — On Saturday evening, more than 150 guests spent a picture-perfect summer evening at the annual Under the Tent Party sponsored by The Historical Society of the Town of Warwick.

Guests had a choice of outdoor seating as well as gathering under the huge tent. And while enjoying the music of the Warwick Valley High School Chamber Strings, the comfortable temperatures and clear blue skies, they sampled food, wines and other refreshments donated by local businesses and restaurants.

The Under the Tent Party is the Historical Society’s major fund raiser. Proceeds from this event are still being tabulated but last year’s event grossed more than $23,000. The funds are used to help preserve Warwick’s historical heritage.

“Everything, everyone, even the weather, worked together to make this year’s Under the Tent an extraordinary success,” said Administrator Sharon Knol. “The restaurateurs in Warwick were so generous and the evening could not have been the success it was without our sponsors and all the volunteers who contributed food and service. Our background music was provided by Keely Gould-Blaikner, Warwick High School Music Educator and three of her very talented students. The hum of strings under lively conversation only enhanced the evening’s ambiance.”

The Historical Society of the Town of Warwick now owns and maintains nine historic buildings in the Village of Warwick.
