Helping those who help

WARWICK — After sponsoring and volunteering for the February 2012 dinner of the Warwick Community Kitchen, members of the Warwick United Methodist Church Special Gifts Committee decided they wanted to further help the efforts of feeding the community.

Mary Sellers from the Special Gifts Committee contacted Victoria Garloch, founder of the Warwick Community Kitchen, to see how her group could help.

They found out that what the Community Kitchen really needed was another steel work table and a three basin sink.

Through its fund-raising efforts, the Special Gifts Committee was able to provide a grant to the Warwick Community Kitchen to purchase these items, which not only increased work space but the sink’s three basins conform to the Department of Health guidelines which now allows the Community Kitchen to use metal pots and pans instead of disposables, helping to reduce costs.
