‘Healthy Holiday Apps’

WARWICK — You can continue to eat healthy throughout out the upcoming holiday season.
At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, St. Anthony Community Hospital will host a free informational event, “Healthy Holiday Apps,” in the Greenbriar Room at Mount Alverno Center, 20 Grand St., Warwick. Mount Alverno is one-quarter mile beyond the hospital and there is ample parking.
Morrison Healthcare Specialists of the Bon Secours Warwick Campus, under the direction of Michael Cooper, will offer a cooking demonstration featuring healthy holiday appetizers. There will also be a presentation providing informative nutritional education by lead dietitian Janine Killeen, Lynn Palmieri, nurse Gigi Fried, Stacy Lynch, dietetic student/volunteer and Lindsey Roth, dietetic student.
Assistant Director Carmela Decker, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, will prepare and demonstrate a hearty Kabocha Bisque along with a salad using farm fresh seasonal fruits and cheeses and home made Bruchetta. The event, which will include tasting, is designed to help people make better choices during the holiday season.
“Healthy Holiday Apps,” said Killeen, “has nothing to do with your I-phone. But it’s important for your health so please join us on Tuesday evening, October 16.”
