Have a spooky Halloween at the Harness Racing Museum

GOSHEN — Bring the kids to the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame for a fun-filled old-fashioned Halloween celebration with a walk through a spooky stable.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., kids will make creepy crafts, play hauntingly fun games, and enjoy sweet treats. They'll decorate a headless horseman, batty-witch, or ghostly pumpkin to frighten off those Halloween spirits, create a flowing ghost decoration, and make a bat-styled candy box filled with sweet treats.
Pumpkins are limited and are first-come, first-served.
The spooky Halloween adventure is topped off with a heart-pounding ride on the museum's 3-D Harness Racing Simulator and refreshments for everyone. The museum's mascot, Hall of Fame Harry, will pose for pictures with young gargoyles, ghosts, witches, pirates, super heroes and such. Children are encouraged to come in costumes of all kinds.
The first 40 children pay $5 and receive a pumpkin to decorate. Bring your own pumpkin and for $3 the museum will provide the fixins' for some spooky pumpkin decorating.
Parents are admitted free. Reservations are not accepted.
Refreshments are being sponsored by ShopRite of Chester & Soons Orchard of New Hampton. Pumpkins are being provided by Soons Orchard & Manza Farms of Montgomery.
The museum, located at 240 Main St. in Goshen, is supported in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and the Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund.
