GWL Food Pantry needs turkeys

GREENWOOD LAKE — The Greenwood Lake Food Pantry is seeking frozen turkeys for its holiday baskets.

The pantry is appealing to the community for donations. Thanksgiving baskets will be distributed Saturday morning, Nov. 17.

The Greenwood Lake Food Pantry, Inc. (a 501(c)(3) corporation) has served the community for 30 years. The pantry serves 450 to 500 people a month, including adults, children and the elderly.

The pantry also distributes food baskets to local families for Thanksgiving and Christmas and Hanukkah. For Christmas and Hanukkah the pantry also distributes gifts for the children.

The pantry relies on grants and donations. There are no paid personnel. All personnel are volunteers.

Frozen turkeys can be dropped off at the pantry during operating hours, Mondays and Saturdays, 9-11 a.m. Items left outside cannot be accepted.

The pantry is located in the rear parking lot of Holy Rosary Church on Felter Street (the church is located at 41 Windermere Ave.).

Monetary donations can be made to the Greenwood Lake Food Pantry, Inc., P.O. Box 1805, Greenwood Lake, NY 10925. All donations are tax deductible.

The pantry also welcomes donations of non-perishable food and personal care items. Please check expiration dates; the pantry is unable to distribute expired items.
