GREENWOOD LAKE — On Wednesday, Sept. 26, Janice Valentino, Director of Marketing and Development for Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, visited the Greenwood Lake Senior Center to personally thank the ladies who create the red, white and blue blankets, made specifically for veterans who are receiving Hospice Care.
These beautiful blankets, some crocheted and some quilted, range in pattern, but all have the same patriotic theme.
The Senior Center has been providing these blankets for Hospice since last year as a community project. The funds for the yarn are donated from the village residents.
These patriotic blankets play a big role in veteran recognitions along with a certificate of service, pin and a child’s thank you card as part of our "We Honor Veterans Recognition Program" for veterans receiving Hospice Care.
Valentino then thanked the crafters by name: Jo-ann Scherer, Kathy Pitiger, Santa DiMattina, Helen Umberto, Karen Burrows, Joan Petersen, Bethe Moskowitz, Lauren Sanders and Hedi Kelm.
