Greenwood Lake remembers one of its own


GREENWOOD LAKE — A Memorial Day tribute was held Monday for Lance Corporal Scott A. Lynch at the Arthur Finnegan Post No. 1443 in Greenwood Lake.
Lynch was a U.S. Marine and resident of Greenwood Lake. He was killed in action on Oct. 6, 2010, while serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
With Lynch's parents, two brothers and his widow in attendance, Legion Commander Patrick Buckley an unveiled of a monument in his honor.
The ballfield at the post also was christened the Scott Lynch Ballfield.
And the Village of Greenwood Lake named the street in front of the post Scott Lynch Way which connects 17A and Lakes Road in honor of him.
State Sen. John Bonacic was a guest speaker, along with Greenwood Lake Mayor Jesse Dwyer, Town Councilman Floyd DeAngelo of Warwick and Post Commander Patrick Buckley.
The Rev. Robert Sweeney, the post's chaplain, gave the prayers and the MIA tribute.
Once again, the community of Greenwood Lake honored one of its own.
