Greenwood Lake. Oh, say can you see? Oh, yeah, big time

Greenwood Lake Mayor Jesse Dwyer estimated as many 7,000 people celebrated the Fourth of July last Sunday at the village’s fireworks display at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park, making it the largest turnout in the event’s history.

The evening began with six-year-old Skye Clifford singing the National Anthem.

A food truck that had a long, continuous long line and a band played prior to the fireworks.

The lawn at the waterfront beach was jam packed and if you didn’t get there early there was not any room left to sit. Unless, of course, you had a boat and watched the show from the water.

There also was a bomb squad operation led by the Greenwood Lake Police Department, which included members and bomb-sniffing dogs from Warwick and Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The GWL Ambulance Corps and GWL Fire Department were also on scene.
