Greenwood Lake observes Sept. 11

GREENWOOD LAKE — The residents of Greenwood Lake marked the anniversary of Sept. 11 with services at the Senior Center during the day, then during an evening service at the Greenwood Lake firehouse.

At the Greenwood Lake Senior Center, musician and guitarist Marji Zintz led the singing of “Star Spangled Banner,” “My Country Tis of Thee,” “Yankee Doodle,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag/I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “America the Beautiful,” “This Land is Your Land” and “God Bless America.”

The outdoor evening service held at the firehouse was emceed by Greenwood Lake Fire Department President Steve DeFeo.

The Rev. Robert Sweeney led the group in prayer. Ambulance Corps volunteers, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Fire Department members were among those who stood at attention for a bell ringing.

In addition, a large beam of steel from the World Trade Center was on display at the fire house.
