Confluence Running hosted its first Francis H. Gawors Memorial Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning at Thomas Bull Memorial Park.

To provide runners with an in-person experience, the Turkey Trot was held under COVID guidelines in individual races every 30 minutes of 25 people with the 8:30 heat having a maximum of 50 people. Runners arrived to the starting line 15 minutes prior to beginning of the race and were expected to leave the park immediately following their finish.

“The Goshen community and its residents have supported the retail shop with incredible excitement,” said Jenna Jenks, general manager of Confluence Running. “This has allowed us to provide the community with support in the form of expert knowledge, prices that match online shopping, and event sponsorships. We could not have gotten here without the community believing in us and our mission to support community health through what we do.”

Confluence Running hopes to continue providing in-kind sponsorships to any community organization looking for support. This includes supporting other small and large businesses in their corporate wellness developments and goals. It’s the mission of the company to spread improved physical, mental and emotional health.

The Turkey Trot was run in memorial for Francis H. Gawors who was a kind and gentle man who supported all athletic endeavors for his son. Frank passed in May due to COVID-19. The mission of the 2020 Hudson Valley Turkey Trot was to provide a sense of normalcy to the community in a safe atmosphere. Proceeds will go toward community running programs and high school athlete scholarships.
