Giant butterfly lands at Pine Island Park

Leonard DeBuck, retired parks commissioner; Marlene Carabello, Pine Island Chamber of Commerce; Mary Bollenbach, Warwick Valley Gardeners member; Mary Pohlman, chair person of the Pine Island Park Butterfly Garden and Cathy Garofalo, creator of the butterfly, celebrate its arrival at the park. Members of the garden committee thought this would be a fun addition to what has become a very special part of the park. Many people have stopped by to have their pictures taken in the butterfly. There has even been a dog photographed in it. Many different butterflies can be seen in the garden. Future plans include beautiful signs depicting the life cycle of the butterfly. It is the hope of the club that this garden will be a place to learn and enjoy. This garden is funded by money from three fund-raisers the club holds. The next will be the Countryside Garden Tour on July 14. For more info go to www.warwickvalleygardeners.com.
