George F. Baker Tuxedo High School welcomes 17 new Honor Society members

TUXEDO — The George F. Baker chapter of the National Honor Society hosted its annual induction ceremony at the high school on Sept. 27.
The inductees were accepted based on the four tenets of the National Honor Society:

Scholarship, which means a commitment to learning acquired through diligence and effort.
Service, which is willingness to work for the benefit of those in need without monetary compensation or recognition.
Leadership, which is taking the initiative in class and school activities by going forward when others hesitate.
Character, which is the force within each individual which distinguishes that person from others.

Christine Meore

Hanna Tapparel
Ethan Williams.

With the addition of these new inductees, the chapter now has 40 students in its active membership.
The National Honor Society sponsors events and service projects throughout the school year and encourages its members to contribute to school and community functions, like the Spirit Rally held on Oct. 5 and Tuxedo Family Fun Day on Oct. 13.
The first major service project for this year is the Fall Food Drive. Nonperishable food items are currently being collected and will be donated to those in need at local food pantries.
Donations may be dropped off at the high school.
