By Roger Gavan
WARWICK — During the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Warwick, the honored guest, Warwick, England, Mayor Stephen Cross expressed a desire to visit the Appalachian Trail.
The marked hiking trail, which extends from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine, is about 2,200 miles long and passes through Warwick at the top of Mount Peter between Bellvale and Greenwood Lake.
Cross is a hiking enthusiast and has written a guidebook for the 100-mile hiking trail in Warwickshire, England. On Saturday, Aug. 5, he and his wife, Christine, and local hikers Dave and Robyn Eaton joined Trail Ambassador John DeSanto for a short hike north from where the trail crosses Route 17A to the scenic Eastern Pinnacles.
