Fourth winter snowstorm warning in three weeks downgraded to winter weather advisory

WARWICK — Does March come in like a lion and go out like a lamb or is that backwards?
On Wednesday March 21, it all depended on how far west you were of what the media was describing as a "Monster Storm."
Spring officially began on Tuesday, March 20, but that evening the National Weather Service had issued a Winter Storm Warning for this area from 6 a.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday.
It was the fourth such warning in less than three weeks, meaning severe winter weather conditions would make travel very hazardous or impossible.
And that forecast could mean that Warwick residents, especially those in the higher elevations, could expect more than a foot of fresh snow on top of what was still around from the last few storms.
All of Warwick, Florida and Greenwood Lake school systems closed.
Scheduled events were canceled and banks as well as many businesses and government offices closed early.
But on Wednesday, not much happened in the Warwick area and that evening the National Weather Service downgraded the Winter Storm Warning for this area to a Winter Weather Advisory.
The new forecast called for a total nighttime snow accumulation of two to five inches for Orange County, which proved to be accurate.
And winter-weary residents can look forward to milder weather in the coming weeks.
