Florida Public Library’s annual vote is Tuesday, April 3

FLORIDA — The Florida Public Library’s annual budget vote and trustee election will be held Tuesday, April 3, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the library which is located at 4 Cohen Circle behind Village Hall in Florida.

Included on the ballot will be the proposition for the library’s operating budget. The proposed tax levy for 2012-13 is $ 332,800, which represents an increase of $14,810 over the current year.

The estimated tax rates are $.94 per $1,000 of assessed property value in the Town of Goshen ($.04 increase) and $4.20 per $1,000 of assessed property value in the Town of Warwick ($.20 increase.)

Copies of the budget and election information are available in the library.

Voters also will elect three trustees to three-year terms commencing July 1, 2012. Incumbents Ian Murphy and Sheryl Linton with newcomers Adam Fernandez and Caroline Califf are running for the three positions on the Board of Trustees.

Essential information The library is a school district public library, sharing the same geographical boundaries as the Florida School District.

Applications for absentee ballots will be available until Monday, April 2, at 8 p.m. and all ballots must be returned by Tuesday, April 3, at 5 p.m. Eligible voters must be registered either with the school or with the Orange County Board of Elections for the general election.
